At the end of the training, trainees should be able to:
▪ Administer food to elderly people with chewing and swallowing difficulties,
using correct and safe techniques, ensuring adequate intake without episodes
of choking.
▪ Prepare and administer tube or syringe feeding to bedridden patients,
following clinical and hygiene protocols, ensuring that the procedure runs
without incident.
Identify signs of risk of choking or aspiration during feeding,
acting immediately according to prevention and response procedures, in order to
avoid complications.
▪ Comply with hygiene and safety procedures at all stages of the
feeding process, in accordance with current regulations, minimizing the risk of infections and other complications.
